"Paste Special" in Excel allows you to paste data with specific options, giving you more control over how the data is inserted into your worksheet. Here’s how to use it:

### How to Use Paste Special


1. **Copy Your Data**:

   - Select the cells you want to copy and press `Ctrl + C` (or right-click and choose **Copy**).


2. **Select the Destination**:

   - Click on the cell where you want to paste the copied data.


3. **Open Paste Special**:

   - Right-click on the destination cell and select **Paste Special** from the context menu.

   - Alternatively, you can go to the **Home** tab, click the small arrow under the **Paste** button, and choose **Paste Special**.


4. **Choose Your Paste Option**:

   In the Paste Special dialog box, you’ll see various options:

   - **Paste**: Choose what to paste (all, values, formats, etc.).

   - **Operation**: Select an operation (Add, Subtract, Multiply, Divide) if you want to perform calculations while pasting.

   - **Skip Blanks**: Choose this option to skip blank cells from the copied data.

   - **Transpose**: Check this option to switch rows and columns when pasting.


5. **Click OK**:

   - Once you’ve made your selections, click **OK** to paste the data.


### Common Paste Special Options


- **Values**: Pastes only the values, removing any formulas or formatting.

- **Formats**: Pastes only the formatting of the copied cells.

- **Comments**: Pastes only comments associated with the copied cells.

- **Column Widths**: Pastes the widths of the copied columns.

- **Transpose**: Changes the orientation of the pasted data from rows to columns or vice versa.


### Keyboard Shortcuts


- After copying your data, you can use `Alt + E`, then `S` to open the Paste Special dialog quickly.

- After selecting a cell to paste into, you can also use `Ctrl + Alt + V` to open the Paste Special dialog.


### Tips


- **Use Paste Special for Calculations**: If you want to add a constant value to a range, copy the constant, then select your range and use Paste Special with the Add operation.

- **Paste Special with Formulas**: If you want to maintain references, choose "Formulas" when pasting.
